In this collection, Andreu Reverter did not want, like so many others, to engage in the topic of the typological series, the easy repertoire of more or less ingenious or absurd disguises, seeking a crutch in the heroic tradition implanted by August Sander, showing, as many social specimens as possible and with them characterize a time and place.
When we stop looking at these portraits, we care little about archaeological fidelity to the carnivalesque referent, or even the admirable virtuosity of aesthetic reconstruction, because we are subjugated by the look and expression, which is both immediate as a physical contact and distant as reminiscent dreamt lives.
